The Service

I provide an exciting and easy way to commission a unique hand made fine art drawing or painting of your home.

When you commission me to create a unique hand drawn house portrait, you will be guided through the process and amazed by the outcome.

Even if you’re new to commissioning artwork, I will make the process easy and smooth for you. Check out testimonials from prior clients.

Before we lock in a project, I’ll check with you if you have a deadline, and let you know when I expect to complete your work by. Most house portraits will take around 1-2 weeks to create, but may need to be scheduled further in advance depending on the current waiting time. I’ll factor in packing and shipping time and give you an ETA before we commence.

When we get started, I will work with you to find out what you love about the house or property you are having drawn. This might include working out any specific details to include, finding the best time of day and best angle (point of view) to draw the house from.

For many projects, I will digitally collage reference photos to show the house at its best. Maybe we need to move a tree or two, insert a beautiful sky, remove parked cars (or add them!), and so on.

Once the reference is approved, I’ll transfer a sketch to watercolour paper, stretch the paper on to board (to prevent buckling), and get to work! You can choose from full colour painted with watercolour and ink, black & white ink, or black & white pencil. Usually the choice will depend on what will be best represent the home, and best suit the location you plan to hang the artwork.

Watercolour and ink have no ‘undo button’, and the fees don’t include revisions, but often small tweaks are possible to make sure my clients are happy. When I complete the work, I will share a preview with you before I remove it from the drawing board. This way, if any small tweaks are needed, I can undertake them without the paper buckling.

Once the final work is approved, I’ll cut it from the board prepared to fit commonly available frame sizes (see info about this on the FAQs page), package it up, and once payment is received in full, send it out to you.

Works are shipped unmatted and unframed, but matting and/or framing can be arranged. If you enquire about having the work framed as well, be aware that framing can add 1-2 weeks at the very least, and I’ll discuss how it will affect shipping cost and timelines.

Terms & Conditions

  • 50% non-refundable commencement fee & signed contract required to schedule any work.

  • All works are made on A3 paper (11-3/4 x 16-1/2 in, or 297 x 420mm), including a margin for ease of framing. (Be aware that the final paper size sent to you is a little smaller than A3, as once cut off the drawing board we lose about 1cm on all sides). Works can be made smaller if required, please let me know when you make an enquiry.

  • All works sold unframed and unmatted - unless framing is added.

  • Framing is available for customers who will collect the work from my studio by appointment. If you want the work framed but need it sent to you, I will discuss this with you before commencing the commission, as shipping works framed with glass can be risky and expensive.

  • All work is subject to acceptance of contract, terms & quote that will be provided once you submit a full order form.
